R.L. Mannings

R.L. Mannings was born in Bristol, UK.

He studied Sociology and Industrial Relations at Coleg Harlech and has a BSc in Sociology from Bristol University.

He trained as a carpenter and vehicle builder, but returned to education in his late twenties, after which he continued carpentry as a self-employed tradesman.

He has taught various evening classes for the Workers’ Educational Association and the Unemployed Workers’ Centre.

He has a deep interest in Jazz and Folk music, and reads contemporary and science fiction as well as non fiction works on folklore and early history. His favourite authors include Sheri S. Tepper, Robin Hobb, Charles DeLint, Graham Green and John McMillan.

R.L. Mannings now lives and writes on the North Devon coast, combining his experiences of workers’ associations and sociology background with his interests in music and folklore.
