Barbara Van Brunt was born in Niagara Falls, New York. She first met The Salvation Army while a young girl growing up in a large government housing development. The Army offered educational, recreational and spiritual programs at the community center building in that area. This began a journey which brought her to faith in Christ and a lifetime adventure of serving Him as a Salvation Army Officer.
Barbara, with her husband, Fred, served as officers/pastors in three communities in Pennsylvania and were Youth Officers for eight years, running Salvation Army residential camps. They then began years of leadership assignments, culminating in larger responsibilities for all the Army's work in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and then also in Massachusetts. With a total of forty-four years of ministry and service, Barbara and Fred embraced life with the Lord and the Army. In the midst of these year's they had five children and now have four grandsons and one great grandson.
The reader is invited to laugh and to weep, and to marvel at what God can accomplish through a woman with a simple faith, dedicated to His service.
