I wrote my first novel four decades ago. I was told the market didn't want WW2 stories, so I put the manuscript in a wardrobe and got on with life.

It stayed there for forty years. My daughter found it, read it, and told me it needed to be published. I was seventy-three. I wasn't sure anyone would care.

They did. War Torn found its readers, and I have been writing ever since. Fragments of Time came next, a different kind of love story, set between 1914 and 1964, about what happens when time itself becomes the obstacle.

I spent my career as a maths and science teacher, much of it working with students learning English as a second language. I think that shaped the way I write: carefully, with attention to what people actually mean when they speak, and with a lot of respect for the reader.

I live in Mid Wales with my husband. I am glad my daughter opens wardrobes.
