I wrote my first novel four decades ago. I was told the market didn't want WW2 stories, so I put the manuscript in a wardrobe and got on with life.

It stayed there for forty years. My daughter found it, read it, and told me it needed to be published. I was seventy-three. I wasn't sure anyone would care.

They did. War Torn found its readers, and I have been writing ever since. Fragments of Time came next, a different kind of love story, set between 1914 and 1964, about what happens when time itself becomes the obstacle. This book would appeal to readers of The Time Traveller's Wife and Lake House.

Following Fragments of Time, I completed the War Torn series with Book 3. My latest novel, Arbel: Majesty and Sorrow, which tells the story of the little-known Tudor Arbella Stuart, the cousin of Elizabeth 1st and a real claimant to her throne.

I spent my career as a maths and science teacher, much of it working with students learning English as a second language. I think that shaped the way I write: carefully, with attention to what people actually mean when they speak, and with a lot of respect for the reader.

I live in Mid Wales with my husband. I am glad my daughter opens wardrobes.
