Justin McHenry

I am a writer and historian who loves to find the little nooks and crannies in history and the stories that live there, and bring them out to the open. Like a story, I wrote on the first person to die in West Virginia from the Spanish Flu epidemic was an incarcerated black man and the story of a female lawyer in the 1920s who took on the patriarchy of her town for their sexist treatment of her. My work has appeared in Belt Magazine, 100 Days in Appalachia, Journal of the American Revolution, FATE Magazine, and has appeared in several historical journals. My stories have been syndicated in newspapers and have appeared in annual collections.
