Kae Soon Dean

Kae Soon Choi Dean is an oral story-teller extraordinaire who captivates her three children, seven grandchildren, and many others with her accounts of growing up in the early 1930’s to early 1950’s in Inchon, Korea. In 1959, she married an American who was working in South Korea. Their family lived in South Korea, Okinawa, and Virginia. She became a U.S. citizen in 1968. After her husband passed away, she settled in Virginia with her three young children. Her childhood stories and detailed descriptions of Korea provided the basis for Sweet Potato Moon. Kae Soon is a fantastic Korean and American cook and a gifted silk embroiderer.
