The author is an experienced teacher and Archivist with a life-long career in community development and advocating for social justice. He has championed gender balance plus justice for the poor, jobless and homeless. For the poor he founded a Food Bank and for the jobless a Community Garden. He was co-founder of the Province's Food Security organization and spent thirty years as a volunteer with Oxfam. He is the winner of a Provincial award for his role in the preservation of local culture. In addition to this short story work he is the author of five non-fiction books on Newfoundland history.
