About the Author

Although I grew up predominately in Lawton/Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, I was born in Germany while my dad, Russell E. Cannon, served in the military. Dad retired in Lawton and he and mom, Beatrice Elrod Cannon, are buried in the Fort Sill Cemetery.

My sisters and I grew up under the nurture and care of a family of believers at Calvary Assembly of God in Lawton, Oklahoma. It truly does take a village. We had Sunday School teachers, Children’s Church, Summer Church Camps, Vacation Bible Schools, Youth groups and revivals, with church friends, school friends, and neighbors. All have made an impact on my life and my “growing up” years.

Never did I realize how very much I would need all of that history as I forged on into adulthood and experienced love and loss beyond what I ever thought I could possibly live through. But, I lived through it all, still carrying the faith of our forefathers and believing in the Bible, through it all.

The divorce was devastating on my self-worth. Then a 20 year marriage ended in a heavenly move due to Leukemia, the next 11 year marriage ended in a heavenly move due to Dementia, and a close friend moved to heaven, and a sister too. All the aunts and uncles are up there (except one). Adding to that, the slew of horror stories from the news keeps me thankful for my steadfast belief, there is a heaven. I intend to see all my loved ones again. Until it is my turn to go, I want to do all I can to help people know, God is real, He is our best friend, and He cares about what matters to you, and if you stick to it, He is faithful to bless the work of your hands. Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so… and it is the same for you… no matter what you have done, Jesus loves you.
