Dr Gombobaatar Sundev (Gomboo)
• Born in Dadal Soum of Khentii Aimag, a small village in NE Mongolia,
where he grew up surrounded by resident and migratory birds.
• Аfter graduating from the National University of Mongolia in 1995
has worked on bird research and conservation activities as a professor,
scientist, conservationist and professional photographer.
• Authored over 300 scientific publications, including the Regional Red
List of Mongolian Birds (2011), A Field Guide to the Raptors of Asia
Vols. 1 and 2 (2012 and 2018), A Field Guide to the Birds of Mongolia
by A&C Black Bloomsbury (2019) and others.
• Professor at the National University of Mongolia and founder and
coordinator of the Mongolian Bird Taxonomy and Rarity Committee.
• Has organised and engaged in numerous bird study trips across the
country.
