Jason McKenna is the Director of Global Education Strategy for VEX Robotics, leading the development of world class curriculum and classroom integration platforms. He collaborates with an expert team of software developers, engineers, educators and web designers who are the masterminds behind innovative curriculum and educational solutions available globally.
Jason’s journey into the world of STEM began in 1997 when his role as an elementary teacher was expanded to lead a school enrichment program that included Educational Robotics. Subsequently trained through the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Academy, Jason’s passion was born, and he began working part time with the academy writing curriculum and educational solutions.
Joining Robomatter in 2015 which was later acquired by VEX, Jason’s contributions reflect 25 years of experience and evolution in the field. Respect for his many published works and expertise has led him to travel the world to share his learnings at speaking engagements, and to meet with local parents, students, educators and governments to uncover global insights and challenges collected to inform VEX product innovation.
Today, Jason’s dedication to smart, creative and research-supported innovation equips teachers with the knowledge and tools to confidently deliver impactful educational outcomes. His solution based approach ensures that tools and programs are designed to reflect and accommodate various ages, grades, languages, abilities and both in-person and virtual classrooms.
Jason holds a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from PennWest California University. He also holds a teaching certificate, Bachelor degree in Elementary Education, and secondary certificates in history. Jason is an active member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA).
