For five decades, John Roger Barrie has studied with numerous spiritual teachers and practiced many different spiritual paths. He is an authorized lay instructor in the respected, interfaith-oriented Ramakrishna–Vedanta tradition. His interreligious approach incorporates teachings and practices from several religious traditions, including his native Christianity. His decades-long emphasis on experiential spiritual realization and his firsthand familiarity with diverse spiritual traditions has imbued him with a fluent knowledgebase and practical outlook when addressing the subtleties of the mystical path.
He has served since 2001 as literary executor of influential author, historian, and philosopher Gerald Heard (1889–1971). He has overseen reissues of 18 classic Gerald Heard titles and manages the Gerald Heard Official Website.
