Jürgen Deters, Professor of Human Resource Management and Leadership at Leuphana University, Lueneburg, Germany, where he also served as Academic Director for the Management & Human Resource Graduate Program.
His research focuses on personnel selection, global talent management, identifying, win-ning, and developing leaders, talent retention, global HR standards, and Strategic HR Management. In recent years, his interdisciplinary research has focused on the interplay between analytics, intuitions, and emotions in management decisions, particularly the recruitment and selection of managers.
The results of this research are presented in the book „Analytics and Intuition in the Process of Selecting Talent“, published in 2022.
In this book, insight is given into the current state of research on the implementation of rational-analytical selection procedures and supplemented by the latest research results from various scientific disciplines as well as own empirical studies on the constructive use of intuitions and emotions in decision-making. In this way, analytics and intuition become complementary ways of gaining knowledge, making good judgments and wise decisions.
After studying Business Administration and Psychology and completing his Ph.D. at the Free University of Berlin, he gained practical professional experience at the Allianz Group, one of the world's leading insurers and asset managers. And he worked for 5 years as head of HR and executive development in a media company that operates in many countries around the world. He has a licensee for professional personnel selection, certified by the German Psychological Society/ Association of German Professional Psychologists.
In addition to his job as a professor, Dr. Deters advises organizations and works as an executive coach and consultant for various companies.
