Bruno C.A. Sebastiani

Bruno Cesare Antonio Sebastiani is an Italian author and independent scholar whose work draws on philosophy, sociology, anthropology, and evolutionary thought to examine the environmental crisis and humanity’s relationship with the biosphere.

Since 2015, he has developed Cancerism, a theory that interprets humanity’s expansion within the biosphere through the biological model of malignant disease. Its central proposition is that the abnormal evolutionary development of the human brain enabled Homo sapiens to escape many of the natural constraints governing other species, leading to unprecedented population growth, technological expansion, resource appropriation, and ecological transformation.

Sebastiani is the author of the seven-volume series The Planet’s Cancer, which explores the biological, historical, social, political, and philosophical implications of Cancerism. The Planet’s Cancer: Why Humanity Is Earth’s Malignancy introduces the central theory to an international readership.

Born in Milan in 1949, he holds a degree in Political Science and lives in Liguria, Italy.
