Amy is the great-granddaughter of Eastman Kaney (an original Dawes Commission enrollee) and a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. Her appreciation for cultural awareness came at an early age. She was raised in a military family; she lived in Germany, Okinawa, Turkey, and Scotland before returning to her Chickasaw roots in America.
Amy is an award-winning storyteller and educator, artist, author, and a founding member of her stomp dance troupe, Hithla.shares Chickasaw and Southeastern tribal customs with audiences of all ages through lively programs at schools, museums, libraries, and festivals throughout the United States and the world. Her artwork is sold at several museums and stores as well as powwows and festivals around the world.
Amy married Carl Bluemel, artist and designer, in 1995 and they have 2 incredible daughters. They have spent most of their lives in Texas, but have recently moved to Ireland for a new adventure and accessibility to the rest of the world.
