Paul A. Jones

Paul A Jones was born and lived on a small farm in North Central Kansas. When he was 11, his father passed away. He and his mother moved into a small town nearby.

After highschool he attended Pharmacy school at the University of Kansas and dental school at UMKC. After practicing general dentistry for two years, he spent two years studying Endodontics (root canals) at the University of Nebraska. He practiced Endodontics in Kansas City for the next 35 years.

After starting his practice, he took a learn to sail class, bought a 14 sailboat, and sailed on midwestern lakes. A decade later, he bought a charter boat in the Caribbean and spent the next eight years sailing on it and other boats four to six weeks a year while on holiday.

In 1997 he bought a 45 foot cruising sailboat and outfitted it for living aboard while cruising southwestern Florida.

In 1999 he took a year off from practice and with his wife, daughter, and her fiance, sailed from Florida to Trinidad (off the coast of South America) visiting most of the islands in the caribbean.

In 2013 he retired from practice and moved back aboard a sailboat cruising the east coast and Florida. He bought a 40 foot catamaran sailboat and started a charter company called Stuart Sailing Charters out of Stuart Florida see https://stuartsailing.com/

Over then next five years, Paul wrote his memoir using the journals he wrote while he took the year off sailing as well as memories of growing up on a farm in the 50's and attending college in the 60's.
