Sara Madden

Sara Madden's work spans picture books and early readers for young dreamers, lyrical retellings of classic fairy tales for middle-grade readers, and narrative nonfiction that uncovers the forgotten caretakers, healers, women, and witnesses of the past. Sara's books explore belonging, resilience, and the quiet courage of ordinary people.

With a background in anthropology, history, and archaeology, Sara brings both scholarship and compassion to her storytelling. She believes stories are bridges between generations, between cultures, and between what was lost and what can be remembered. Her books invite readers of all ages to see the world with curiosity, empathy, and wonder.
