Chris Carter

Chris Carter, better known by most as “Brother Chris,” has served as a pastor since 1988 and currently as an Executive Pastor at Christ Church Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.

Chris has bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and Biblical Education from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) and Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Biblical Preaching and Leadership from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Chris enjoys storytelling, singing, speaking, and writing in the areas of spiritual formation, pastoral care, and gerontology. His spiritual journey has been a convergence of different streams or traditions of the Christian faith. He describes himself as an “Evangelical Methocostal Mystic” and seeks to be a minister of encouragement in whatever role of ministry he finds himself.

Chris is married to Tonya and has four sons: Brady, Connor, Eli, and Buddy, the family’s Border Collie. He enjoys reading, laughing, basketball, practicing the presence of God and people, and visiting the country.
