Salar Khudadad

Salar Khudadad is a senior humanitarian professional and adviser with over 15 years of field and strategic leadership across Iraq, Sudan, and the wider Middle East. He has held senior roles with the United Nations (WFP, OCHA), Save the Children International, MSF, and the Iraq NGO Forum, working across emergency response, humanitarian access, interagency coordination, and global policy reform.

His writing draws directly on practice grounded in the decisions, dilemmas, and trade-offs that practitioners face in the field, rather than the view from headquarters or the academy. His books cover ethical decision-making in humanitarian contexts, non-profit strategy, and emergency preparedness and response.

In addition to his practitioner books, he co-authored a peer-reviewed chapter on international coordination in humanitarian preparedness in the Handbook on Humanitarian Crises (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2025). He holds a Master's in International Business Management from the Universitat de Barcelona and is based in Baghdad, Iraq.
