Ed Accura

Ed Accura is a British songwriter, producer, and creator of the Blacks Can't Swim film documentaries and co-founder of the Black Swimming Association (BSA).

Ed co-founded the BSA with Seren Jones, Danielle Obe and Alice Dearing in 2020 to champion inclusivity, representation, diversity and equitable access in aquatics; highlighting the importance of swimming as an essential life-saving skill and showcasing aquatic opportunities and aquatic career pathways which are otherwise invisible to African, Caribbean and Asian communities.

Ed is also the host of the In The Deep End podcast, which was created as a platform to converse with and highlight the personal swimming journeys of influential people of African, Caribbean and Asian heritage. Guests included actor Colin Salmon, director Noel Clarke, DJ Semtex, and many more.

Ed has been making music since 2003, with credits including band 617’s debut album ‘The Vault’ and hit single Always. This featured the then UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair. This attracted a lot of media attention and some unwanted attention from MI6. He has also written music for all Blacks Can't Swim film documentaries.
