Jennie Dodd

Jennie Dodd was raised in the picturesque market town of Shrewsbury, famous for its medieval castle, steep narrow streets, little alleyways, and timber framed buildings. Situated on the River Severn the town nestles in amongst the ancient Shropshire hills of the Stiperstones, the Long Mynd, Wenlock Edge and the Wrekin. Educated at the Wakeman Grammar Technical School, Jennie developed a keen interest in art and history, a love of English literature and truly excelled in sport. It was no surprise therefore when she opted to become a physical education teacher, a career she adored spanning over forty years and in which she specialised in netball, badminton, athletics, dance, swimming and outdoor pursuits. Jennie considers her appreciation of the natural world to be most important to her. If she isn't reading or writing, you will find her outdoors, pursuing activities she considers have enriched her life, horse riding for example has been a life-long passion.

If asked about highlights in her career, she would say winning the National ISA Netball and Badminton Championships, as well as choreographing numerous dance and synchronised swimming displays. She would tell you that her greatest achievement was in helping all the wonderful students she was fortunate enough to teach acquire a love of sport which is equal to her own. Her ambition now is to write stories that will inspire children to read enthusiastically and perhaps even to write creatively themselves.
