Kevin A. Carter (he/him/his) resides on the ancestral lands and waters of the Coast Salish people who have called Orcas Island home since immemorial. He is a vegan, video gamer, heart attack survivor, and husband. Kevin has over thirty years of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) experience and has served as the DEI leader for BP, Campbell Soup, Ahold, and Safeco Insurance.
At The Winters Group, Inc., Kevin is the vice president of strategy and assessments. He strives to be a nonanxious, committed and affirming presence in meeting people where they are on their journey to center equity and justice. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice work often surface strong emotions among consultants and clients. Anxiety, the threat of loss, fear, and anger can often inhibit one's capacity to maintain a presence that leads to successful outcomes, authentic change, and wellness. Kevin helps clients anticipate, address, and transform resistance within themselves, others, and the organization to achieve engagement objectives in an environment of biopsychosocial wellness.
Kevin holds a bachelor of arts, cum laude, in philosophy and public affairs from Vanderbilt University and a master of business administration in finance from the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. In addition, he is a certified administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) and LIFO® - Life Orientations.
