Fumi BIGOT

The House of Pretty Sleepers

Fumi Bigot is the pseudonym of a franco-japanese complicity. A Japanese woman, architect and designer, after reading Kawabata’s « House of Sleeping Beauties » wrote a similar story with a leading character as an aged Japanese lady.

The heroin, discovers, while spending a few nights besides a sleeping young man, the reawakening of her sensuality and maybe of love. As in Kawabata’s novel those nights and the punctuating days are for the main character the opportunity of memories from her youth and of her feeling of loneliness that she knows for some years.

In this world where nothing lasts, hearts and bodies are the playthings of overwhelming forces. The lonely woman will end up finding out painfully what lurks in the strange house that offers this service of sleeping people’ temporary companionship.

A French man, beguiled by this unusual story, offered his pen to give literary flesh to this strange tale ingrained by the poetic sensitivity that enriches the Japanese soul.

This novel relate the mystery of the love’s bond that humans forge beyond and below logic, culture or langage. A mystery still as powerful since the first steps of humanity.
