Rafael Ris-Ala is a Professor of Research Methodology at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ) at the University of São Paulo (USP), an Assistant Professor I of Machine Learning at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas), and a Professor of Machine Learning and Research Methodology at the XP Education College (XPe). He has supervised several professionals, conducted more than 80 academic projects and evaluated more than 140 projects. He completed his master's degree in Data Science at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and is currently studying for his doctorate in artificial intelligence at the same institution.
He is the developer of several systems and articles in Software Engineering and author of the book Fundamentals of Reinforcement Learning in Artificial Intelligence published by Springer Nature. He is also a reviewer of scientific articles for several journals recognized by Clarivate, Elsevier and IEEE.
He worked as an Infrastructure Project Manager at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and was also responsible for creating a Data Center at the institution. He also has more than ten years of experience in software development in the Brazilian Navy.
