Michael Reuel Teller

I grew up in the 1970s, captivated by the moon landings, dreaming of long-duration spaceflight — a common fantasy for kids of that era. Though life led me to software engineering, family, and later Talmud study, my passion for space never waned. Inspired by a fellow programmer’s bestselling Mars novel (you might guess who!) and a visionary figure’s Mars settlement vision, I began writing Red Valley – Journey to Mars in 2014. The book explores families of ordinary people traveling to establish the first human settlement on Mars, blending hard science with a first-person journal format.

Researching physics, chemistry, agriculture, and more became a thrilling journey, shaping a story grounded in realism. Michael Reuel Teller, the book’s credited author, is a pseudonym I chose to honor the fictional journal’s narrator — what could be more fitting? As a programmer now living in Israel, I bring technical precision and a lifelong love for sci-fi to this tale.
