Paul Bonham

I have worked in a number of environments, such as prison, children's charity in an outreach capacity and educational settings; and through my role as drug worker I have observed relationships with drugs and people.

My book, and workshops that I have delivered, have sought to open discussion on the nature of relationship between our self and the "other", being the drug or person. The drug (anything that alters the state of mind, substance or activity) is an active participant; and it is necessary to recognise and act on how the conversation develops.

There is a need to maintain your identity and your needs from the relationship in order to manage mood and participation.

Both the book and workshops focus on such as Social media, alcohol, cannabis, gaming, gambling as relationships that are regularly encountered. We talk through the term "socially acceptable" and its usefulness to the individual, debate around illegality/legality, and the challenge of being your "self" in todays society.

My interest is in whether you feel "freedom" or "imprisonment".
