Ruth Wuwong

Wuwong spent twenty-one years as a scientist and then as a marketing manager for a global pharmaceutical company. About twelve years ago, she and her friends founded a biotech company (www.vidasym.com) with a focus on developing new drugs targeting chronic kidney disease. As the company’s president, chief scientific officer, and chief financial officer, she successfully raised more than 20 million dollars for Vidasym from angel investors, the National Institutes of Health, venture capital firms, and pharmaceutical companies.

Wuwong has published 120+ scientific papers and books (using her legal name, J. R. Wuwong) plus a few non-scientific books/articles (using her pen name, R. F. Whong). Currently, she lives in the Midwest with her husband, a retired pastor. They served at three churches from 1987 to 2020. Their grown son works in a nearby city. As a pastor’s wife, she often provided free financial planning advice to congregants. In the spirit of servanthood, she also volunteered as a tax preparer in the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program during the past eleven years.
