Lewis Brogdon

Dr. Lewis Brogdon is a public intellectual and sought-out national speaker who serves as the Associate Professor of New Testament and Black Church Studies and Executive Director of the Institute for Black Church Studies at the BSK Theological Seminary. He has served in numerous positions in undergraduate and graduate institutions like Simmons College of Kentucky, Claflin University, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Bluefield University where he also serves as Director of Institutional Effectiveness.

Brogdon is an accomplished writer. In addition to his new book The Gospel Beyond the Grave: Toward a Black Theology of Hope, he is the author of several books such as The Bible in the Ashes of Social Chaos: An Introduction to Problematic Texts, A Companion to Philemon, The New Pentecostal Message? An Introduction to the Prosperity Movement, and Hope on the Brink: The Emergence of Nihilism in Black America. As a regular contributor to Christian Ethics Today, Virginia Capital Connections Quarterly, Black Politics Today and newspaper op eds, Brogdon authors numerous articles for both academic and non-academic audiences, publishes teaching resources for church leaders through Overcoming Life Publications, and produces teaching and inspirational videos through Koinos Media.
