Catherine Beale

Catherine Beale paints from her hillside studio surrounded by sheep on the edge of Bath, Somerset (UK). She creates landscapes and portraits full of light effects that exploit the mobile properties of watercolour. As a former oil painter she combines juicy tubed colour with running washes using her "gravity painting" techniques. She enjoys explaining these in her Bath Watercolour Workshops and at art centres including the RWA Drawing School Bristol and Cornwall School of Art. Her love of saturated colour stems from eleven years living in Asia where she painted commissions for the British High Commission and US Embassy in Singapore as well as an elephant mural in Malaysia. Catherine is a member of the Society of Women Artists (UK) and has demonstrated and sold from their Mall Galleries shows. She has exhibited with the Royal Watercolour Society and Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Bath Society of Artists and Holburne Portrait Prize. You can view more of her paintings and her workshop schedule on her website www.catherinebeale.com
