Dr. Mia Long Anderson specializes in sport communication, African-American magazine history, and the intersection of communication, race, and sport. She’s the co-author of The United States of Sport: Media Framing and Influence of the Intersection of Sports and American Culture and the editor of Social Justice and the Modern Athlete. Her research has also been published in the Journal of African American Studies, Journal of South Texas, and Journal of Sports Media. She is an associate dean and professor in the College of Arts and Media at Sam Houston State University. She is a three-time SEC graduate who received her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama with a specialization in advertising and public relations and media history.
