Valerie Patrick PhD

Dr. Valerie Patrick, President of Fulcrum Connection LLC, is a facilitator, leadership trainer, and professional speaker that has helped a wide variety of technical organizations improve performance through science-based leadership and collaboration since 2014. Dr. Patrick is a PhD chemical engineer with 25 years of corporate experience leading technical and strategic initiatives to identify and deliver new sources of organizational value at Bayer and Monsanto. Her last corporate position was serving 4 years as the first Sustainability Coordinator and Strategist for Bayer North America (BNA) reporting to CEO Greg Babe. In that role, she launched BNA’s first sustainability report, BNA’s first GHG emission reduction commitment, and an employee sustainability thinking education program that reduced environmental impacts while generating millions of dollars in business benefits. Dr. Patrick was one of three women in her college class of 24 chemical engineers at Bucknell University and she was one of two women in her graduate school class of 16 at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Patrick wasn’t aware of the performance barriers associated with gender diversity until she was promoted to her first corporate management job in 1994. In her first corporate management job, she was the only female research manager reporting to a male Director of Research along with 5 other male research managers. Her ability to interact effectively and contribute in male majority situations was recognized by a Vice President who invited her to participate in his staff meetings as a developmental assignment. Finally, Dr. Patrick has over 10,000 hours of corporate experience as a team leader, is a Certified Professional Facilitator through the International Association of Facilitators, is a Certified Creative Problem Solving Facilitator through the Creative Problem Solving Group, and is certified with distinction in the Foundations of NeuroLeadership by the NeuroLeadership Institute.
