Bradley Slone

Bradley Slone was born in Pikeville and has lived in Pike County for nearly all of his life. He is currently the Deputy City Manager of Operations and City Engineer for the City of Pikeville. Bradley has loved learning about his ancestors and the way they lived their lives since he was a child, and this eventually developed into a keen interest in the history of Pikeville, Pike County, and Central Appalachian. He has worked on behalf of the City of Pikeville to complete various local history projects.

His most notable contribution to local history prior to publication of this book has been overseeing the production and authoring most scripts for the Pikeville History Moments Youtube channel. The City of Pikeville's Tourism Department works in partnership with the Big Sandy Heritage Center Museum, the University of Pikeville's Frank M. Allara Library, and the local government access channel called Pike TV to produce ten-minute videos about the history of Pikeville, Pike County, and the surrounding area. As of December 2022, the 29 videos on the channel have nearly 325,000 views.

Mayor Jimmy Carter appointed him to the board of the Big Sandy Heritage Center Museum in 2018. He became the chairman of that board in 2021. He is also working with Pikeville 200, the team of individuals working with the City of Pikeville to plan and implement a celebration of Pikeville's bicentennial coming in 2024.
