Morgan Golladay

Golladay has been writing since a teenager, but first published her poetry in 2020. Surprisingly, the first poem she published, Old Tools, published in the Broadkill Review, was awarded Third Prize in the 2021 Delaware Press Association Communications Contest. In 2024, the DPA awarded her the first and second prize for short stories and an honorable mention for poetry. Her first book of poetry, The Song of North Mountain, is a National Book Award nominee and was awarded 2nd place in the 2025 Delaware Press Association Communications Awards for a book of poetry. Her short story, Under the Rhododendrons, was awarded a 2nd place in the National Association of Press Women Communication Contest in 2024 after receiving a first prize for short stories in the DPA Communications Contest that same year.

She has since published poetry and short stories, and she has finished the final draft of her first novel.

A graduate of the University of Mary Washington, her career included almost 40 years as a volunteer and staff member for a number of non-profit organizations. She has recruited, trained, and placed volunteers, recruited blood donors and been a Disaster trainer for the American Red Cross, president of several volunteer organizations, and was a customer service representative and purchasing agent for a residential water well company.

Golladay has been intrigued with words all her life. Her poetry reflects this, and she uses both illusion and allusion in her writing. Much of her work is reminiscent of her native Shenandoah Valley, its people and places.

She currently resides in Milford, Delaware. She is tall, left-handed, and blue of eye. Everything else is subject to change.
