Luke Ganje is an author because, in the end, that's all that he's ever really wanted to be. Once you realize time is running out, there's not much sense in doing anything other than what brings you joy. In the spirit of that, he writes books. Sad books, funny books, horrifying books... they're all there. And there will be more and more and more, until there's nothing at all.
