Carmen Barton

Mother of three, professional stand-up comic, and recent best-selling author, Carmen Barton is a force of nature; and sharing her story to encourage others forward - that is her superpower. After raising her children to adulthood, she left her hometown in Ferguson, Missouri and moved to Los Angeles to fulfill her dreams of becoming an entertainer. There, she lit up the stage - headlining shows, making numerous television appearances, and even entertaining internationally for U.S. troops in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Just as her star was rising, Carmen met and married fellow comedian and personal trainer Anthony “Nick” Carthan. The couple would work together for a time, making names for themselves on stage and in film, but their bliss would be short-lived. After Anthony’s sudden passing, Carmen’s world was rocked, and while she glued her life back together; she weathered many battles with debilitating grief, depression, and layered loss. Thankfully, her story did not end there.

Today Carmen leverages her captive audiences and sold-out stages to share her story of widowhood; weaving comedy into her stories of self love, perseverance, and healing in the spotlight. She finds her peace and purpose in encouraging and connecting with her audience, using the powerful, universal language of laughter.
