I am from Visakhapatnam, a city on the east coast of India in the state of Andhra Pradesh. My ancestral village is about 20 kilometres from the city. The drinking-water source of the village is primarily from limestone rocks and earth. If we look at the history of thyroid disease, the best research on thyroid disease was done by Theodore Koch, John McClelland, Robert McCarrison, and others, in Switzerland or in India, in the limestone districts. Similarly, my research is based on observations in my ancestral village.

I have lived in Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, and Chennai, all seacoast cities. This has helped me to appreciate the importance of coastal weather or salt air on health. I could appreciate the insight from McCarrison’s research why thyroid gland is half the size near the seacoast compared to its size inland. The fact that I lived most of my life in seacoast cities also helped me to appreciate Peter Stewart’s acid-base chemistry and the importance of strong ions, sodium and chloride, the constituents of common salt and the key players in determination of acid-base balance.

In short, based on my personal experience, observation, and research, I was able to connect McClelland’s limestone research, McCarrison’s thyroid gland size insights, and Peter Stewart’s acid-base chemistry.

The reason I am able to write on tuberculosis is because I have established conclusively the cause of thyroid disease. The symptoms of tuberculosis disease are similar to the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
