Tarek Charaf

Dr. Tarek Charaf is an eternal humanist. He believes in the power of positive living to overcome even the most trying of situations.

Having survived a landmine at age 8 and being kidnapped at age 14, he took the decision to follow a pathway in elite sports, despite life threatening injuries.

Sports have always been a part of Tarek's life. In his teens he competed in national and international swimming and water polo championships, moving to coaching water polo and snowboarding by the time he was 18 and by 19, he was already managing the Lebanese national snowboard team.

He has competed in the toughest of sports, despite permanent disabling injuries to both his calves and his spine, due to his firm belief that disability does not prevent one from excelling.

Dr. Tarek Charaf’s holds a PhD in Management with a major in Sports Management, diplomas in Sports Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and various diplomas in Management, Sport Administration and Sport Coaching, Project Management, Strategic Planning and other..

After more than 20 years, Dr. Charaf continues to build a better world around him, using sports as a catalyst to not only offer people healthier and more stable lives and environments, but to also bring them together through the power and spirit of active living.

Tarek is an adviser in International Sport Development. He has been involved in the development of National Olympic Committees, government sports master-plans and the organization of mega events (Olympic Games and Asian Games).

His work encompasses strategic development, macro management, good governance, crisis management, mega events, sports law and athlete pathway development.

Tarek has performed advisory and contractual work for international sports organizations such as the IOC(International Olympic Committee/Olympic Solidarity), FINA (International Swimming Federation), ATP-Tennis Open, WTA-Tennis Open/Qatar,

IIHF-ASPG(International Ice Hockey Federation- Asian Strategic Planning Group) the Olympic Committees of Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen and others, as well as for international sport personalities.

Moreover, Tarek a leading sports mental coach with an international proven track record; he has been working with athletes for more than 18 years, to optimize their psychological resilience and fortitude, in order for them to achieve peak performance and attain transcendence..

On a social/humanitarian level, Tarek has launched HELP (Humans for Environment and Life Protection) in 2008, an independent humanitarian initiative, purpose of which is to provide help wherever it can, in regards to safeguarding, protection and development of life and environment. HELP has been teaching people within the last decade, mainly in the Middle East and South East Asia, to be of assistance to those in need, while using minimal budgets, or no budget.
