Catherine Frieman

Catherine J. Frieman is an Associate Professor of Archaeology in the Australian National University's School of Archaeology and Anthropology. She obtained her BA In archaeological studies from Yale University and her M.st and D.Phil in European archaeology from the University of Oxford. She studies the relationships between people, technology, and material culture. Her particular interests include prehistoric mobility, innovation, and the methodological and ethical implications of ancient genetics. Her work crosses numerous periods and regions, from the archaeology of prehistoric and Roman Europe; to Australian historic archaeology; to technological developments in prehistoric Southeast Asia. She has worked on and directed excavations across Europe, America, and Australia
