Humboldt State University graduate with a degree in Social Welfare, Ricel Ann Troy, never thought her life’s passion would involve sheep! Her love of communicating the wonderful lessons she has learned from a shepherd’s point of view over the years have culminated into her beautifully tender story of LaLa and the Shepherd. “I have always loved sheep. A dream of mine is to, somehow, harness all that love and passion into place where sheep in need of rescuing can find a safe home and shelter. I have such compassion for them; they need a shepherd, someone to help them along the way—just like people do.”
As a San Diego native, Ricel saw more of the beach than sheep farms growing up but that didn’t keep her from pursuing her love of wooly friends. She learned many lessons about life and love and trust, that ultimately lead her to write her story about LaLa, and how this fearful sheep learns to trust her shepherd and find a happy ending. “You’d be surprised at the different farms you see as you travel,” another one of Ricel’s passions. “I love to travel and as I have travelled, I have sampled food from all over the world. Food is a way to really get to know people and their culture.” When she isn’t traveling, she loves finding new recipes on the internet and baking, especially gluten and dairy free bakery goods including brownies, cookies, muffins, and coffee cakes. Ricel loves the theatre as well and enjoys supporting her own local theatre and community. Her energetic personalty keeps her actively involved in many ventures. “I currently have three jobs: massage therapist, medical records reviewer for Workers' Compensation, and pre-processor for real estate information.. I am also researching a women's/children's shelter right now, hoping to get involved or to support what they're doing to help those in need in some way.” She is also loves attending and serving at her church, Calvary Community Church of Brea with her husband of fifteen years. “I am so blessed to have a husband who loves me and supports every crazy idea I endeavor to pursue.”
