Heejung Chung

Heejung Chung is a labour market & welfare state researcher and Professor of Work and Employment, King's Business School and King's Global Institue for Women's Leadership, King's College London, UK.

Raised in South Korea and the USA and having lived in Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, (and having spent time in many others) she is interested in understanding why people work, live and think so differently across these different countries. This includes how long and hard workers work, the extent to which work takes priority in life, but also how unpaid work is divided in the household, the gender race and class inequality patterns in the labour market etc.

Heejung has been researching flexible working for the past 20 years. Her recently published book explores the question whether flexible working including home/remote working improves work life balance and gender equality, and if not why not. The book further explores what we can do to resolve this issue.
