In the fall of 2002 I thought the US wouldn't go to war in Iraq. I said so in a class at the University of California/Riverside, disagreeing with the professor who bought the subject up. When it happened I marveled at how little objection there was to having our military invade a country thousands of miles away. Were we always ready to make war, and if so, how did we get that way?

I chose the history of militarism in America as my dissertation topic and now my three books on the history of American militarism are available on Amazon. The books are:

Preparing a Great Machine--Militarism in America, Volume II, 1914-1924

New Era, New Deal and War--Militarism in America, Volume III, 1925-1941.

I can be bull-headed at times so I'm not giving up. I'm working on Volume IV, tentatively titled "Cold War Militarism."
