Serdar Celik

Serdar Celik is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University (2001), a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (2003), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2007). His research fields include renewable energy, building energy efficiency, green roofs, HVAC, and alternative cooling technologies. In 2018, Prof. Celik was selected as the Paul Simon Outstanding Teacher-Scholar. He is the Founding Chair of Ilgaz Energy Symposia and SIUE Energy Symposia. He is also the Chair of the Climate and Sustainability Advisory Board (CASAB) at SIUE. Prof. Celik has served as a reviewer for different departments and programs of U.S. Department of Energy including Office of Technology Transitions, and Solar Energy Technologies Office, as well as National Science Foundation’s Science in Energy and Environmental Design (SEED) Awards Program. He is a member of American Society of Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and is the founder and faculty advisor of the ASHRAE Student Chapter at SIUE since 2009.
