Alessio Bruno Bedini

PhD in "Historical Demography and Social History" at the "Aldo Moro" University of Bari. After a course of philosophical studies he also obtained a Degree in Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

He has carried out research throughout Italy by examining entire state archives, municipal and diocesan archives. He is a member of SISEM (Italian Society for the Study of the Modern Age), of SIDES (Italian Society of Demographic History), of the Deputation of Homeland History for Calabria and of many other associations that deal with historical studies.

He has published numerous scientific articles on the Modern Age in specialized journals and various monographs including Famiglie Storiche dello Jonio (2008), Sora in his Postcards (2011), Il catasto onciario di Condojanni (2013), Calabria in the modern age: Conjunctures and socio-economic dynamics of a region of Southern Italy (2019), Demographic dynamics in Southern Italy. Mortality in Calabria in the XVII and XVIII centuries (2022). He oversaw the drafting of the proceedings of the I Colloquium of Historical Studies on Calabria Ultra (2009) and of the III Colloquium of Historical Studies on Calabria Ultra (2020).

He is on the editorial board of several journals and in 2021 he was knighted by the President of the Italian Republic for Scientific merits.
