Katie Fraser was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, and can’t remember a time when she hasn’t loved books.
Despite a perpetual love of storytelling, she decided to pursue undergraduate study in the field of Biomedical Science, expecting that it would lead to more consistent job opportunities. Despite her naiveté on the prospects of continuing employment in the largely grant-funded world of Science, she was lucky enough to land a permanent job in the scientific field.
With a safe job that put food on the table, Katie could put a pen to paper and start releasing her creative side. After several false starts, the first words to “Through the Fig Tree” popped into her head while on the bus one day and demanded to be written.
The sequel for Through the Fig Tree swiftly followed, along with the publication of several other books over a few years. Although they are often carried along in the sidecar of her life (taking about fifth place in her priority list to parenting, volunteering, working, and generally trying to stay alive), writing, publishing and exhibiting at conventions are her passions in life. Keep an eye out for Katie at pop culture and book conventions across Australia.
