Robert's home for many years has been Leicestershire after having spent his childhood in the West Midlands and the Lake District. His education included Heversham School and Hatfield College, University of Durham. After graduation he worked as a geography and sports master at Loughborough Grammar School before retiring.

'Sins of the Past' is his first crime thriller novel but he's also written three family histories and a book about his old school in Cumbria. He's also written children's adventure stories.

He has many interests from sport (especially football, cricket, running and cycling) to social history, rock music, natural history, gardening, walking, travel and all matters geographical.

Rob has recently visited Argentina partly for a holiday but also to research some of the locations covered in his second book, a fast-paced crime thriller that has even more of an international flavour than his debut novel. He is currently learning Spanish.
