Welcome to my page, I am Elizabeth M. Gales, an author and illustrator living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. At 61 I decided to retire from my Job in health care. I felt burnt out and exhausted. I have always loved writing and illustrating but it was always secondary to working and raising a family. Over the years I had taken evening courses and applied and was accepted into Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver B.C., almost completing my first year before life took me in another direction. When I retired I decided to face my fears and self doubt and begin the work of completing all the ideas that have been swirling around in my head for decades. ‘Orange Kitty and the Mouse Parade” is the first of hopefully a long list of ideas I want to bring to fruition. After retiring, courses and workshops offered by “The Nova Scotia Writers Society and “SCBWI, helped with my confidence to bring my first book to life. Luck also provided a hand when I met a wonderful person, Anne O’Connell at OC Publishing, who helped me bring “Orange Kitty” into the world thru her support and knowledge.

“Orange Kitty and the Mouse Parade” is a happy rhyming story while counting numbers, the mice have been clamouring to be brought to the page, Orange Kitty misses all the fun, or does she? Currently working on the next book, “Orange Kitty and the Mouse Garden Party”
