Mark McKenna

Dr Mark McKenna is an Associate Professor in Film and Media Industries at Staffordshire University. His research interests are broadly focused on marketing and branding practice, media labour process, and media policy and regulatory strategy. His work has explored these ideas in a range of contexts and from a number of different perspectives. He is the author of Nasty Business: The Marketing and Distribution of the Video Nasties (EUP, 2020), Snuff (LUP, 2023) and Big Wednesday: Lamenting Lost Youth in the New Hollywood (Routledge, 2024). He is the co-editor of Horror Franchise Cinema (Routledge, 2022) and Stars and Franchises: Identity, Image and Intellectual Property (forthcoming, EUP, 2025). He is currently working on his fourth monograph on the action star Sylvester Stallone - Stallone: Identity, Labour and Performance.
