Amid early trauma, Marina was baptised as a child (Gillian Haelwen) and was led to a varied and ultimately 'successful' career in education. She taught all ages and abilities over 15 years in schools, and took various courses to follow questions her experience raised, and providing broader understanding of teaching and learning. Ultimately, following a Masters Degree in Applied Research in Education, she was offered a PhD scholarship, researching the Process of Schooling - pre-school to 16 (The Process of Schooling: Ways of Thinking, Learning and Knowing in Classroom Interaction of Pupils from 4 to 16.) Her PhD led her into other research work, lecturing, and increasing work with teachers.
With books, research and letters to her name she reached exhaustion after 8 years total in Higher Education, when unable to answer the needs of her own heart, having completed the re-structuring of In-Service Courses for practising teachers.
God called her name when she was in despair, and she was then led on a journey of conscious faith, actively in the church. This culminated, after 20 years, in 9 months 'listening to her pain' in Wales. - Book I of the Trilogy ,'He Heals the Broken Hearted', tells this story*.
She was led for the next 8 years in her desire to live for Christ, on a journey of specific Service. 'Your Will Be Done: Beyond Powerlessness Fear - Life Revealed in Love' reveals God's work in taking His Love into the depths of her trauma pain through the trials she lived while serving others, in order to restore her Soul for Service in Christ's Love.
She now lives a life of prayer back in Scotland, seeking obedience to God's Will in writing, iconography and service.
