Thorsten Jelinek

Dr. Thorsten Jelinek is a research fellow at the Hertie School’s Center for Digital Governance, where he focuses on AI governance. He also serves as a visiting professor at the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the author of The Digital Sovereignty Trap and a co-author of several G20 policy briefs on digital sovereignty. Before entering academia, he gained years of professional experience in the ICT industry. Dr. Jelinek holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in organisation and social psychology from the London School of Economics, and a BA in information systems from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
