Ben Stern author of “Near Normal Man” is a hard man to fully describe. He speaks in seven languages and reads in four. His life is one of deep purpose, enormous resolve, and deep love for his family, which helped him survive the Holocaust; slavery, starvation, beatings forced death marches and more. He is a living witness to the genocide of his people and the Jewish community during the Holocaust, and after his liberation hunted major cities in Europe hoping to find members of his family still alive.
Ben was liberated by the American army, but freed himself by letting go of hatred. His story is one of great courage and resilience, unflagging kindness and infinite hope. In America, Ben builds and leads a national resistance 30 years later in Skokie, Illinois against Nazis and again with thousands after Charlottesville in Berkeley at the age of 95. Ben has marched and spoken at rallies against hatred and for refugee rights and for justice for minorities. He impacted over 12 million people around the world in a 3 minute video that went viral. The film, “Near Normal Man” is now in 175 countries with his unforgettable message for justice and human rights
Ben greatly enjoys and loves the company of his three children, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He reads, walks and studies everyday. And he brings light, joy and hope to everyone who meets him.
