Martin Maudsley is a professional storyteller and author based in Dorset, UK. He tells stories around the world in theatres, festivals and schools, with a wide repertoire ranging from local legends and traditional folk-tales, to magical myths and epic sagas.
Many years in the making, Telling the Seasons is a vibrant journey around the twelve months of the year, drawing on the changing patterns of nature and the rich tapestry of seasonal folklore. He has also written many published articles on storytelling and folklore, and is a contributor to Little Toller’s anthology of new nature writing, Going to Ground.
Monsterlogica is Martin’s first children’s book, published in 2026, and is a storyteller’s guide to the mythology and imagination behind some the world’s most magical monsters. Collaborating with celebrated artist Victoria Topping, the book brings to life a menagerie of equally dangerous and delightful creatures through woven words and colourful images.
