Matthias Friedrich

Matthias Friedrich works on art and archaeology from late Antiquity throughout the Middle Ages. In his recent book with Cambridge University Press, "Image and Ornament in the Early Medieval West," he interrogates the art and archaeology of post-Roman Europe. Currently, he is a postdoc in the Department of Prehistoric and Historical Archaeology at the University of Vienna and holds degrees in archaeology from the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg and in History of Art from the University of York.
